The Hills Have Eyes 2 is the sequel to Alexandre Aja’s 2006 remake of the the 1977 film, written by Wes Craven, called The Hills Have Eyes. The Hills Have Eyes 2 is expected to begin filming this summer. Craven has stated, "The studio, Fox Searchlight, wants the sequel out a year to the day after the last one, so we have to deliver our script in a matter of weeks" [1], therefore estimating the release of the film on March 10, 2007.
Alexandre Aja, the director of the remake, will not be directing this sequel. Craven is currently looking at Michael J. Bassett, the director of Deathwatch, to take over the directing role. Craven has said "We’re talking with Michael J. Bassett, now that Alexander is busy on another project. I’m also a fan of his previous film Deathwatch, which had some very impressive sequences and was shot for not very much money.”
Plot
Wes Craven revealed to Fangoria he and his son Jonathan are currently writing the new script. “We want to continue the story of the miners. This time, a group of National Guard screw-ups come face to face with the mutants on their last day of training in the desert. We will take the audience underground as well."
