The Black Dahlia is an upcoming 2006 film directed by Brian De Palma. It is based on the novel of the same name by James Ellroy.
The movie was in pre-production for a long time with David Fincher as director and Mark Wahlberg to play Lee Blanchard. Wahlberg was forced to drop out due to scheduling conflicts with The Italian Job II. When De Palma became director, he replaced Wahlberg with Aaron Eckhart shortly before shooting began in April, 2005.
This film was shot in L.A. and in Bulgaria.
James Horner was originally on board the project but in February this year, it was reported that Mark Isham had replaced him.
Synopsis
The film follows two detectives in 1940s Los Angeles as they investigate the murder of Elizabeth Short, known as the Black Dahlia.
