The World's Fastest Indian (2005) is a movie on the true story of Burt Munro from Invercargill, New Zealand who personally modified his old 1920s Indian motorcycle into a 200+ mph record-breaking machine. He broke the world land speed record for motocycles with engines less than 1000cc at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah in the 1960s. The film stars Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins and was written and directed by Roger Donaldson.
Burt is befriended with the boy nextdoor Tom (Aaron Murphy). The film depicts also Burt's low-budget journey. He crosses the ocean by boat working as a cook and dish-washer, and in the US he travels in an old car he bought, with a trailer for his motorcycle.
He goes to Nevada to try out his motorcycle on the road, since in that state there is at the time no speed limit.
